As we reflect on our progress in recent years, we're proud to share how we've enhanced our sustainability efforts and outlined our ambitious plans for the future.

Our Commitment to a Greener Tomorrow

We have always believed that a successful business must balance its economic, environmental, and social responsibilities. In line with this philosophy, we’ve committed to achieving NetZero by 2050, a goal that aligns with the Paris Accords objectives. This commitment drives every aspect of our operations, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to embracing circular economy principles.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

One of our most significant achievements to date has been reducing our carbon footprint. In 2023, our Scope 1 and 2 emissions were reported at 4,405 tCO2e. While Scope 1 emissions saw a slight increase of 13% due to transport-related factors, we have focused on long-term reduction. We’re working diligently to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% over the next decade from our 2021 baseline.

In addition, we’ve seen a 4.5% decrease in our Scope 3 emissions - a testament to our continuous efforts to optimise our supply chain and delivery processes. These reductions are crucial steps on our path to NetZero, and we're committed to accelerating this progress through new technologies and smarter practices.

Championing Waste Management and Recycling

Waste management is another area where we've made substantial improvements. We’ve implemented systems ensuring 100% of our scrap cables are recycled or diverted from landfills. By partnering with local recycling dealers, we’ve turned what was once waste into valuable resources, contributing to a more sustainable economy.

But our efforts don’t stop there. We’re proud to report that we recycle a wide range of materials, including wooden drums and office waste, maintaining a recycling rate of 98%. And we’re not resting on our laurels - our goal is to push this rate even higher in the coming years, ensuring that we continue to lead by example in waste management.

Supporting Sustainable Employment and Ethical Practices

Our sustainability initiatives extend beyond environmental impact; they’re also about supporting people and communities. We currently employ 658 individuals across our nine global branches, focusing strongly on local hiring and long-term career development. In 2023, we achieved an 82% staff retention rate, which indicates our commitment to creating a positive and sustainable work environment.

Ethical sourcing is another cornerstone of our business. We ensure that our supply chain adheres to the highest standards of labour practices and that the materials we use are responsibly sourced. Regular audits and focusing on diversity and inclusivity within our supply chain help us maintain these high standards.

Looking Ahead: Our Future Sustainability Goals

As we look to the future, our commitment to sustainability is stronger than ever. We’re exploring new opportunities to reduce our carbon emissions further, including installing solar panels and other green energy projects. These initiatives will help us achieve our NetZero goal and position us as a leader in sustainable innovation within the cable industry.

We’re also dedicated to deepening our community and customer engagement. By offering training and providing detailed documentation on product carbon emissions, we empower our customers to make informed, eco-friendly choices.

We aim to fully comply with the UK government’s NetZero targets by 31st December 2049, but we’re confident we can reach this milestone ahead of schedule. With every step we take, we’re moving closer to a future where sustainability is not just an aspiration but a reality.
