Data Centres

Cleveland Cable Company is a world leader in supplying cable for data centre construction, refurbishment and maintenance projects. We supply cables for power interconnections from grid to server, data cabling of all types as well as infrastructure cables for facility management systems such as air conditioning and lighting.

LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) Cables

Cables sheathed in LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) material are required for power distribution throughout any data centre facility. LSZH material will not emit the toxic fumes or visibility reducing smoke associated with burning PVC, lowering the risks to personnel and sensitive equipment in the event of a fire.

Medium Voltage Cables

Cleveland Cable Company supply armoured 11kV and 33kV cables that meet British Standards BS6622 and BS7835, UK DNO approved Triplex cables, as well as cables for wind turbine and solar PV panel interconnections in systems including renewable energy generation.

CPR Compliancy

Data Centre construction within the European Union must be compliant with the Construction Products Regulations (CPR). Since July 1st 2017, all Cleveland Cable Company cable products are CPR compliant (where applicable). Please see our CPR compliancy information for further details.

What types of cables are included in the data centre range?

Our data centre cable range includes LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) cables sheathed in LSZH material that are required for power distribution throughout any data centre facility. LSZH material will not emit toxic fumes or visibility reducing smoke associated with burning PVC, lowering the risks to personnel and sensitive equipment in the event of a fire. We also supply armoured 11kV and 33kV cables that meet British Standards BS6622 and BS7835, UK DNO-approved Triplex cables, as well as cables for wind turbine and solar PV panel interconnections in systems that include renewable energy generation.

How are data centre cables tested?

All data centre cables must comply with the Construction Products Regulations (CPR); since 2017, all Cleveland Cable Company cable products are CPR compliant (where applicable). These tests include flame propagation, smoke emissions, flaming droplets and particles, and acidity. Please take a look at our CPR compliance information for more details.

What materials are used in data centre cables?

All our data centre cables are manufactured with high-quality materials to ensure optimal performance and safety. Copper and aluminium are used as conductors for durability with copper providing efficient electrical transmission with minimal loss and aluminium offering a cost-effective and lighter alternative. For insulation, we use XLPE (cross-linked polyethene) because of its thermal stability and resistance to moisture and chemicals with their outer sheaths being made from PVC which offer protection against physical damage and UV radiation.
